In addition, through our strategic partnerships with financial service organizations around the State, including Innovative Change$, we facilitate easy access to financial education and services.
Where We Serve
CASH Oregon, through our partnership with AARP Tax-Aide, supports free tax preparation and tax credit outreach in 32 counties in the State of Oregon at over 140 tax sites. Click on “tax sites” to find one near you.
Who We Serve
We serve people from different ethnic groups, living situations, ability levels, and age groups. In 2012, we saw 55,323 tax returns filed statewide. There were tax returns filed electronically, returns amended, prior tax year returns done, tens of thousands of State returns filed and good old paper returns completed for working Oregonians. We also saw another 6476 people with questions and answers directed to appropriate help. The grand total of people assisted throughout the State of Oregon was 61,799 people.
Many taxpayers do not have access to the internet at home. For those who have access to the internet, many are not aware of the ever changing tax laws and/or credits. Because of this, people turn to commercial tax preparers. Free tax preparation allows taxpayers to maximize refunds by eliminating the fees charged by commercial tax preparation companies and avoid the temptation of Refund Anticipation Loans.
The average Annual Gross Income (AGI) of the 55,323 families and individuals was $22,823. The average federal tax refund of the 55,323 people was $1,469. When you only make $22,823 a year $1469 is huge. Plus, not having to pay for your taxes to be done can save $135 or more.
How does a family live day to day making a gross income $1901.92 a month? ($22,823/12) You can do the math.
